Opening a business, celebrating a milestone, relocating, expanding, or commemorating an anniversary deserves more than simply cutting a ribbon.

The North Orange County Chamber of Commerce has transformed the traditional ribbon cutting into a coordinated Business Launch & Visibility Campaign designed to introduce your business, promote your story, connect you with community leaders, and provide continued exposure before, during, and after your celebration.

This is far more than a ceremony. It is a complete promotional campaign built around your business.

Before Your Event

Event Planning and Coordination

The Chamber works directly with your business to determine the date, time, location, event format, and overall flow of the celebration.

Ribbon cuttings held Monday through Friday are strongly recommended. Weekday events generally provide the greatest opportunity for attendance from elected officials, Chamber ambassadors, board members, business leaders, and community partners.

Weekend events may be accommodated; however, attendance from officials and business representatives may be more limited.

Events should be scheduled several weeks in advance whenever possible to allow sufficient time for promotion, invitations, and event coordination.

Dedicated Event Page

The Chamber creates a dedicated event page on the North Orange County Chamber website featuring:

• Your business name and logo
• Event date, time, and location
• Business description
• Registration or RSVP information
• Website and contact links
• Event details and promotional information

The Chamber website receives thousands of visitors each month, providing your business with additional online visibility before the event.

Email Marketing

Your event is promoted through the Chamber’s overall email communications to more than 27,000 subscribers.

Chamber emails regularly achieve an average open rate of approximately 42 percent, placing your business in front of thousands of business owners, community leaders, elected officials, residents, and regional partners.

Social Media Promotion

The Chamber promotes your event through its social media platforms, which may include:

Businesses are encouraged to follow and tag the Chamber so collaborative posts, shares, and additional promotional opportunities can be coordinated.

Promotional Video

When appropriate, the Chamber may create a short promotional video or reel introducing your business and inviting the community to attend the ribbon cutting.

The business may be asked to participate in a short interview or provide information, photographs, logos, or video footage to assist with the promotion.

Government and Community Outreach

The Chamber sends invitations to appropriate representatives based upon the location of the business.

Invitations may include:

Attendance by elected officials or their representatives cannot be guaranteed; however, the Chamber coordinates outreach and provides each office with the event information.

Your Membership Directory Listing

Every Chamber member receives a business landing page within the Chamber’s online eDirectory.

Before the event, the Chamber may review your listing to help ensure your business description, contact information, website links, logo, and other available details are current.

Following the event, selected photographs may be uploaded to your business profile, creating additional content and continued visibility.

Photographs may also be named using appropriate business, industry, location, and service keywords to support online search visibility and search engine optimization.

Your Chamber profile remains available after the ribbon cutting, allowing the campaign to continue supporting your business beyond the event itself.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Chamber provides the ceremonial ribbon and oversized scissors and helps organize the official program.

The typical ceremony may include:

1. Welcome from the North Orange County Chamber
2. Recognition of elected officials and community representatives
3. Presentations from attending government offices
4. Brief remarks from the business owner or representative
5. Official ribbon cutting
6. Group photographs
7. Tours, refreshments, networking, or demonstrations provided by the business

The speaking order is generally coordinated as follows:

1. Host city representatives
2. Congressional representatives
3. California State Senate representatives
4. California State Assembly representatives
5. Orange County representatives
6. North Orange County Chamber representatives
7. Business owner or company representative

The business owner or designated representative should be prepared to provide approximately five minutes of remarks about the company, its services, its story, and its commitment to the community.

The actual ribbon cutting is generally conducted early enough in the program to ensure all officials, guests, and representatives are present for the primary photographs.

Photography and Video Coverage

The Chamber captures selected photographs and video footage during the event.

Coverage may include:

• Ribbon cutting photographs
• Business owner and team photographs
• Elected official and certificate presentations
• Guest and networking photographs
• Facility, product, or service footage
• Short business remarks or interviews
• Event highlights

Photography is intended to document and promote the event. It is not designed to replace a complete professional event photography service.

The Chamber may use a wireless or attached microphone system to help capture clear remarks and presentation audio for video production.

Ribbon Keepsake

Following the ceremony, the business may keep a section of the ceremonial ribbon as a commemorative keepsake.

The Chamber scissors remain the property of the North Orange County Chamber of Commerce.

Continuing Your Marketing Campaign

Post-Event Recap Video

The Chamber produces a recap video featuring selected highlights from the event.

The video may include:

• The official ribbon cutting
• Business owner remarks
• Government presentations
• Guests and community support
• Facility or product footage
• Business information and location

The video may be distributed through Chamber social media channels, YouTube, newsletters, and other Chamber communication platforms.

Social Media Distribution

Photographs, videos, and event highlights may be shared through the Chamber’s social platforms.

Individual Chamber videos commonly receive hundreds of views, with some reaching more than 1,000 views depending upon the business, content, community interest, and level of sharing.

Businesses are encouraged to share the content through their own social channels, tag employees and community partners, and invite customers to engage with the posts.

Newsletter Recognition

The ribbon cutting may be included in a future Chamber newsletter, providing additional recognition following the event.

Website and eDirectory Content

Event photographs and appropriate business information may be added to the member’s Chamber eDirectory profile.

This creates new content for the member’s business page and allows the ribbon cutting campaign to continue generating visibility after the ceremony has concluded.

Business Responsibilities

The participating business is responsible for:

• Providing an appropriate event location
• Confirming property or landlord approval when necessary
• Providing refreshments, food, seating, tables, tents, decorations, or entertainment when desired
• Ensuring the location is safe and accessible
• Supplying accurate business information, logos, photographs, and promotional materials
• Promoting the event through its own customers, staff, vendors, friends, and social media channels
• Identifying the individual who will provide the business remarks
• Coordinating any special demonstrations, tours, giveaways, or activities

The Chamber will provide guidance; however, the business remains responsible for the venue, hospitality, and any services provided directly to guests.

Additional Event Services

Additional production, advertising, photography, videography, livestreaming, extended event coverage, graphic design, paid promotion, printing, catering, equipment rental, or specialized event services may require a separate quotation.
