Four local businesses were recognized by North Orange County Chamber
for their innovation and success at the organization’s annual Business Excellence & Leadership Awards on June 19. The celebratory evening also honored outgoing board members and served as the regional chamber’s annual membership meeting. A custom designed award was presented to each recipient by Chamber President & CEO, Theresa Harvey.
Titan alumnae Hanayo Martin and Akemi Lee graciously accepted their award for Hapa Cupcakes & Cakes
. The two entrepreneurs began their business selling their treats out of a commercial kitchen before placing third on Cupcake Wars
. They now own two brick-and-mortar shops, one in downtown Fullerton and the other in Brea.
began as a small business and has grown into a leading producer of custom metal fabrication, known for its work on Angel Stadium and amusement parks in Southern California. The business is now run by the founder’s son, Brian Pendarvis, who humbly accepted the honor at the event.
Porto’s Bakery & Cafe
, has gained regional acclaim for its delicious family recipes. The family-owned business now has five open locations, Buena Park being the first in Orange County. In total, the company sells millions of cheese rolls and hundreds of thousands potato balls a month. Betty Porto and Margarita Navarro, daughters of company founder, Rosa Porto, accepted the recognition.
The Cellar Restaurant and Spirit Room
has been open for 50 years. Under the leadership of its third proprietor, Ryan Dudley, the restaurant has received numerous honors and recently became the first in the U.S. to be inducted into the Barons de Rothschild Ambassadors of Excellence Club. Dudley proudly accepted the accolade for his restaurant.
Each recipient also received certificates from elected officials recognizing their achievements. The night ended with the installation of the new Chamber board.
