The 2019 G3X Conference for the Social Sector will take place on August 8-15 at Cal State
Fullerton’s Mihaylo College of Business & Economics. G3X stands for “Growing Exciting,
Excellent Exempt Organizations.” This year the conference has expanded to include preconference
trainings including grant writing, board development and a CEO Accelerator for
prospective social impact CEOs. The conference itself, according to Director Zoot Velasco, is a
“TED-style conference for the social sector with internationally-known masters of innovation.

We have speakers from as far away as Jordan and Mars!” The conference theme of innovation
includes days focused on technology, programs and leadership. Keynote speakers include Fr.
Greg Boyle of Homeboy Industries, Francis Phillips, co-author of the bestselling Nonprofit Kit
for Dummies, and emmy-winning Stephanie L. Smith, Social Media Director for Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, NASA and the Mars Curiosity rover.
