Oct. 1 is the official kick-off date for the 2021-2022 financial aid season when families and students can apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) and Chafee Grant to receive college financial aid. The state financial aid priority deadline is March 2, 2021. The Cal Grant deadline for foster youth and students attending a community college is September 2, 2021.
As part of its stepped-up efforts to reach students across the state, the California Student Aid Commission launched a new Public Service Announcement campaign featuring stakeholders and influencers across the state to help spread the word around free financial aid.
Kicking off the campaign is Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, who shares her personal story of triumph in our state’s higher education system and encourages students to apply for free aid, especially during these uncertain times for our nation.
