MISSION VIEJO, CA – Seven community college districts throughout Orange County and Los Angeles have partnered to present the City to Sea Community College Faculty Job Summit, to be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Majestic Hotel.
The Orange County event is the first of its kind, spearheaded by leaders of each community college district. All four Orange County community college districts will be in attendance, including Coast Community College District, North Orange County Community College District, Rancho Santiago Community College District, and South Orange County Community College District. Representing parts of Los Angeles County are Cerritos College, Long Beach Community College, and Mt. San Antonio College. Collectively, the seven community college districts make up Region 8, with a goal in mind to encourage candidates from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, physical and educational backgrounds to apply for open faculty positions at one or more of the colleges represented at the job summit.
The job summit will offer more than just a list of job opportunities to attendees; the half-day summit will entail workshops, step-by-step application assistance, resume review, presentation tips and tricks, mock interviews, and the chance to meet and greet with existing faculty members. Each district will also showcase their commitment to equity and inclusion through presentations about their hiring practices and campus environments.
The cost is free with room for many to attend. Anyone interested in a full-time or part-time faculty position should register for this professional development opportunity with the most prominent community college districts in Southern California.
“This is an ideal summit for professionals seeking an opportunity to work for a community college. We have tailored this summit for people who are mystified by the faculty hiring process. The summit will provide answers to questions and will provide helpful insight about how to successfully land a faculty position. We encourage everyone to attend,” said Dr. Cindy Vyskocil, Vice Chancellor of Human Resources for the South Orange County Community College District.
